Practical Use of Eye Contact

Looking someone in the eyes makes me distracted. I have managed to be able to look in the eyes and listen, but telling a story or talking about something I did is impossible. I get too much information from someone's eyes, and I can't accurately focus on both interpreting and talking.

For now, I'll keep listening and looking, because that gives me a more complete picture of what the person is.

As for talking and looking, I can do it if I need to be assertive or dominant, and my speech is prepared.

If I'm telling a story, I'll keep to the occasional glance to check if the person is engaged.
